About CityFixer

What This Is

CityFixer is a free, static reference tool that indexes publicly available federal data for communities across the United States. It exists to make existing public information easier to find and understand.

What It Does

For each indexed community, CityFixer displays:

Demographics — Population, housing, and economic indicators from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey
Federal Programs — A list of federal funding programs the community may be eligible for, based on published eligibility criteria
Opportunity Scores — Computed metrics that summarize community indicators across infrastructure, health, education, economy, and environment
Schools — Basic school data from the National Center for Education Statistics

What It Is Not

Not a government website or government-affiliated service
Not a grant application tool
Not a source of financial, legal, or professional advice
Not a guarantee of funding eligibility or availability
Not a real-time data feed — data reflects the most recent available federal releases at time of generation

Data Sources

All data comes from publicly available U.S. federal government datasets, including:

U.S. Department of Education — National Center for Education Statistics (NCES)

No proprietary, private, or personally identifiable data is used.

How It Works

CityFixer is a static site. Every community page is a pre-generated HTML file. There is no server-side application, no database, no API, and no user accounts. Your browser loads an HTML file and renders it locally. No data is sent back to any server.

Cost

Free. No paid tiers, no premium features, no ads, no data monetization. The information displayed here is public data that taxpayers already paid to collect.

Status

This site is a work in progress. Data sources are being expanded, coverage is being verified, and features are being added. If something looks wrong, it might be. Check the originating federal source to confirm.
